Indra’s Web: A symbol of connection
by Elle, Essence Love
"The light is shattered into gold on every cloud, my darling, and it scatters gems in profusion."
—Rabindranath Tagore
A core belief of Essence Love, Tantra is the profound interconnectedness shared between each of us and all other things.
Like the Buddhist tradition of Tantra, from which Essence Love emerges, a commitment to holism and the holistic are intrinsic to the integrity of Essence Love Tantra.
We embrace the ancient, glittering metaphor of Indra’s Jewels or Indra’s Web—to describe the self and the conception of the Universe.
As philosopher Alan Watts wrote, "Imagine a multidimensional spider's web in the early morning covered with dew drops. And every dew drop contains the reflection of all the other dew drops. And, in each reflected dew drop, the reflections of all the other dew drops in that reflection. And so ad infinitum. That is the Buddhist conception of the universe in an image."
In this metaphor, each of us is reflected in each other. As each of us grows, we holographically bring light to every other jewel in the web.
This total understanding of Tantra is solely dependent upon a simple choice: to reconnect within ourselves, the seemingly disparate and other into a meaningful whole...toward a new form of selfhood.
As above, so below.
